The only thing more enjoyable than a returning client is a client who is also a friend! Michele has been my personal trainer for years and we’ve become friends in the process. I look forward to seeing her family’s name on my schedule because their adventure family sessions are always a good time for everyone, myself included!
I think there’s a common misconception that family photos still involve your starched Sunday best and stiff, forced smiles. I’m here to tell you, that doesn’t have to be the case! As a lifestyle family photographer, I strive for authentic photos and an enjoyable experience for the whole family. Kids are allowed, even encouraged, to be kids. Do they enjoy splashing in creeks? Maybe they prefer climbing ‘til their heart’s content or playing tag? Great! Not only does this make for a less stressful session for you as the parent, the results are undeniably genuine.
Michele is a returning client of mine, so I knew after already having done her 2021 family photos that this session would also be a blast. Her entire crew showed up to their outdoor lifestyle session excited and ready to go, including her husband which is kind of a rare scenario. (Not that dads don’t have fun once they get there, but most don’t exactly heel click at the idea of family photos.) Just as I expected, the Moore family thoroughly enjoyed their time together and I loved getting to catch up with a good friend and her lovely family.
The Moores lead a very active lifestyle and it only made sense to incorporate that very personal detail into their photos. As you can see from the photos, her boys are very adventurous which thrilled me to no end because we got some great shots. My motto in family sessions is to just let them be little and I’ll capture every giggle, smile, and jump for photos that depict childhood exactly as it should be. I’m a mom myself, and the idea of having to force kids to be anything other than themselves just spells out work and a less than enjoyable afternoon. Photos are more than just images, they’re memories preserved for years to come! That was the goal with this session.
For our location, we chose The North Unit at Theodore National Park which is a longtime favorite of mine. There is such a variety of views and landscape there that it’s perfect for virtually any session, but especially involving kids because of the wide open space. The bluffs are such a beautiful spot for romantic photos of just mom and dad, and I was sure to capture some of those as well! Michele and her husband are fantastic together. Because of their natural chemistry, they made my job so easy and fun!
Doesn’t Michele look stunning? Two of her dresses (the burnt orange and red) are from my client closet, something I offer my clients to help eliminate planning on their part for their session. Family sessions don’t have to be boring or stressful, and I ensure both!
I’m already eager to photograph this bunch again in the future! If you’re looking to schedule your own fun-filled family session, you can get the ball rolling by filling out the contact form here. We can capture your family and all of the laughter they bring for you to enjoy for years to come!
