I think it has been almost 2 years since I had my last family session with the Austreims, when the girls were 6 years old. They have grown 8 inches since, I swear! We decided it would be fun to do a session downtown. Alex and Averi were a blast and game to do whatever ideas we threw at them, giggling and playing off one another’s energies the entire time. One of my favorite parts of the nights was when the girls were standing in front of a store that had stars drawn in the window and Averi told Alex this joke: How do you fit an elephant into a Safeway bag? You take the s out of the safe and the f out of way! (PS there’s no f in way….). The kicker, they didn’t realize why it was as funny as it was because they took it literally and thought it was about not spelling a word right. At age 8, their innocence is adorable, reminiscent of the first time we did their family photos together. The beautiful thing about photography is the opportunity to capture people at different stages of their lives, documenting the changes both with their appearance and their maturity. When we left downtown, we decided to go explore some grain elevators nearby and we were surrounded by the most adorable, friendly kittens. They were super playful and it was making Alex a little nervous, as they followed us wherever we went. After that, we headed down to the train station park to get the final images of the night. I had to capture Codi alone; she looked so good in her pink top and even though I asked her to do a few things she raised her eyebrows to, she obliged…nailing it too, I might add! I love my family sessions. It was fun to watch the twins interacting and seeing how close they are, yet unique as individuals. Codi is a dear friend and so naturally I look forward to any time we have together and taking family pictures of her and her family doesn’t feel like work.Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself. ~Unknown
