First thing’s first – congratulations on the newest addition to your family! Pregnancy is such a special season in your life. Whether you’re a first-time mama or this isn’t your first rodeo, you should know that each pregnancy is uniquely beautiful. Every pregnancy is as one of a kind as every child is. Documenting this miraculous season with a maternity session is something you’ll never regret. But when is the best time to book your maternity session?
There is so much planning that happens during pregnancy. You’ll create a birth plan, a plan for decorating the nursery, maybe you’ll even start a savings plan! One plan you shouldn’t leave out is the plan for preserving the memory of this time in your life. Plan ahead for your maternity session!
The best time to book your maternity session is in your third trimester, somewhere between 33-35 weeks. You want to be far enough along that you can show off that beautiful baby bump. But you don’t want to be so far along in your pregnancy that you’ll be uncomfortable to move around for your photos or run the risk of delivering before your session. If you’re expecting twins or triplets, I recommend booking even earlier around 25 weeks or so.
But how far in advance should you book your maternity session during your pregnancy? I highly recommend booking the spot for your maternity session as far in advance as possible. Reach out to your photographer during the beginning of your second trimester to get on the books for your maternity session. This is also a great time to schedule your newborn photos as well! Photographers get busy and their schedules often fill up fast, especially if you need a session in the fall. Booking early is the best way to secure your session date!
I hope you found this advice helpful. A maternity session is such a beautiful way to remember this season of your life. Someday, you and your little one will look at these photos together and you’ll tell the story of your pregnancy with them. If you’d like to book a maternity session with me, send me a message! I’d love to tell the story of your sweet babe through my lens with you.
