ND Destination Photographer’s 2025 Travel Bucket List

Travel

2024 was a busy year for destination sessions, and 2025 is shaping up to be another year of unforgettable adventures! As a North Dakota travel photographer, I’ve got a few destinations on my 2025 travel bucket list that I hope to check off in the new year. From charming southern cities to breathtaking national parks, each destination offers unique opportunities for capturing memories and indulging in local culture.

1. Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville is one of those cities that I’ll just never get tired of visiting!  This vibrant southern city is perfect for travel enthusiasts, photographers, and music lovers like. When my daughter & I visited, we snapped portraits all over Music City, like the famous “What Lifts You” wings by Kelsey Montague. There are endless photo opportunities around town (especially if Western aesthetic is your thing), but more importantly, you’ll never run out of things to do while you’re visiting.

From the Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman (a historic venue with impeccable acoustics and photo-worthy architecture), and the Country Music Hall of Fame, you can make a whole day of submerging yourself into the major attractions of the city.  It doesn’t end there, though!  The arts & crafts district and boutiques are amazing for shopping, and don’t even get me started on the food.

2. San Antonio, Texas

I had the pleasure of visiting San Antonio for a senior photography workshop & knew that I wanted to come back ASAP! San Antonio combines rich history with modern flair, offering endless photo opportunities. The River Walk, especially,  provides scenic views perfect for family portraits or candid shots. It’s many attractions would be a fantastic place for a family trip (and a destination family photo session 😉 ) The Alamo is a must-visit for history buffs, while the San Antonio Zoo and  the interactive DoSeum are perfect for families and kiddos.

For dining, be sure to check out Best Quality Daughter! When I was there with the retreat group, everyone loved, loved, loved it.

3. Acadia National Park, Maine

Maine has been on my bucket list for a while, specifically because of the breathtaking foliage in the fall! It made the cut once again for my 2025 travel bucket list. Autumn transforms Acadia National Park into a photographer’s dream, with fiery foliage blanketing the rugged coastline. I’m drooling at the possibilities for scenic backdrops with senior sessions, show-stopping family photos, or a super cozy couples session! Cadillac Mountain offers breathtaking sunrise views, while Jordan Pond provides serene backdrops with its crystal-clear water and the Bubble Mountains in the distance.

After a day of exploration, head to nearby Jordan Pond House for their famous popovers and tea, or treat yourself to fresh seafood at Thurston’s Lobster Pound in Bernard.

4. Charleston, South Carolina

The second I landed in Charleston last year, I immediately started brainstorming ways to visit again.  I’m pleased to announce that this location is already on my 2025 schedule for June! With its cobblestone streets, pastel-colored homes, and moss-draped oaks, Charleston exudes charm. The list of restaurants you absolutely have to try is never-ending, and this city is overflowing with activities for every age and occasion.  You can read all about it here!

5. Glacier National Park, Montana

Known as the Crown of the Continent, Glacier National Park is a long-time favorite destination of mine.  In fact, my family & I visit every summer & I’m already looking forward to a 2025 visit! The jagged peaks, glacial lakes, and wildflower meadows are next level gorgeous and create stunning backdrops for photos of all sorts. Lake McDonald is an area of the park you don’t want to miss! It’s crystal clear water and rainbow rocks are a sight to behold, and if you want a beautiful hike without a ton of commitment, add St. Mary Falls to the agenda!

I have an entire blog post dedicated to this location in case you’re planning a trip of your own. And don’t forget, you can join me there this summer!
