Senior Photographer in Williston ND: Kyah Stundal’s Senior Session

Senior

Senior year is already a whirlwind — but capturing it? That’s where the real magic happens. As a senior photographer in Williston ND, I get to freeze moments that feel like sunshine in your bones. And Kyah Stundal’s session? Whew. It was everything: nostalgic, fun, a little chaotic, and so full of love it made my heart swell.

From High School Friends to Photographing Their Kids

This one hit differently. I’ve known Kyah’s parents since my own high school days — Jesse was in my class, and Brooke was just a year below me. So yeah, I’ve known them forever. Now here we are, capturing their girls’ senior year like a full-circle moment straight out of a coming-of-age film.

They’ve got twins (yes, twins), and we started with Kyah Stundal’s senior session first. Chloe’s will be coming up soon, rain got in the way this week, but we’re rolling with it like always. Because life (and senior photos) aren’t meant to be perfect they’re meant to be real.

Walking Through Downtown Williston – A Built-In Time Capsule

We kicked things off downtown, one of my favorite places to photograph. I always make a point to stop by the movie theater. Not just for the vibes, but because the marquee becomes a time capsule. Whatever’s playing? That’s your senior year, stamped in neon.

From there, we wandered, Kyah in front of brick walls and back alleys, concrete and color, grit and grace. Then we made our way to the grain elevators both the blue steel ones that feel iconic and the off-white ones that just hit differently in golden hour light.

These spots aren’t just backdrops. They’re part of the story.

A Mini Family Session + A Surprise Guest

Next, we headed out to this spot by the American Legion and if you’ve never been, it’s got serious Badlands energy without the road trip. Think: open space, rugged terrain, and light that makes everyone look like a dream.

The whole family met us there even their dog, Ozzie. We started with a quick family session before diving back into Kyah’s senior portraits.

Kyah’s Style

Let’s talk outfits, because Kyah brought the looks. First, she rocked the cutest plum-colored top with overalls, simple, playful, and totally her. Then came the brown dress that moved like a dream in the wind.

Chloe slipped into a coordinating dress for some sister shots and listen, if you’ve got a twin (or sibling), we have to get a few shots together. These two radiated so much connection, you could practically feel it through the lens.

And the light? It showed up for us in every single way. It was a 90-degree summer night with zero wind (hallelujah) and barely any bugs, which around here is basically a miracle.

This Is What It’s All About

Here’s what got me in the feels: when I send out my senior questionnaires, I always ask about your current favorite song. Kyah’s answer? “Rich Girl” by Hall & Oates.

I mean… come on. That’s a girl after my own heart.

If you’re looking for a senior photographer in Williston ND who will not only capture what you look like, but who you are I’d be honored to be part of your story.
