Kane’s senior session ended up being both fall and winter, so we could capture both golf and hockey.
First, we started in September at Lewis and Clark, and it was one of those nights where everything just worked. Thankfully, there was no wind, the light was perfect, and none of the small things you usually have to fight against showed up while we were moving around as much as we were.
To begin with, we started at the butte near the entrance of Lewis and Clark State Park. After that, we moved down to a walkway nearby with some really nice fall texture and color.

From there, we headed over to the flip-flop teepee area. First, we used the rocks. Next, we walked through the driftwood. Eventually, we even got into the water a little to add some variety. Honestly, that spot always gives a completely different look from the rest of the park. For that reason, it’s one I almost always end up using.
Also, it was really good to see Katie again. The summer before, we had such a fun travel session in Oregon for Kiera’s senior photos. So, getting to work with their family again felt easy from the start.

Next, we headed to the Links.
For starters, we had two golf carts going. Rob and Kane took one, and meanwhile, Katie and I took the other. Basically, we were driving all over the course trying to hit spots before the sun went down. First, we’d stop somewhere. Then, we’d shoot for a minute. After that, we’d hop back in and go again. As a result, we were able to cover a lot of ground without anything feeling rushed.
Although we stopped at a few holes, hole number two overlooking Lake Sakakawea is hard to beat. Especially at sunset, that view delivers every single time.

Then February rolled around, and we did the second session.
First, we started at the Agri Center in the locker room. After that, we headed over to Spring Lake Park. Luckily, they still had the outdoor rink set up from the weekend before. As a result, the timing worked out perfectly. Honestly, I was excited to take hockey photos outside, which I don’t usually get to do. Furthermore, since Kane is the captain of the hockey team, getting to include that part of his life mattered just as much as the golf course did.
