Senior photos should be an experience, not just a session—and Kaitlyn’s senior travel photography session in Oregon was nothing short of an adventure! From the urban vibes of Portland to the misty shores of the Oregon Coast, we captured stunning images that reflect her personality and sense of adventure.
Our trip started in Portland, where we explored Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, a breathtaking location filled with lush greenery and vibrant flowers. While we wanted to capture some photos there, we quickly learned that professional photography required a permit. After a few quick snaps, we moved on to the Pearl District, a favorite for Oregon senior photos, known for its mix of modern and industrial charm. While Kaitlyn changed outfits, we scouted locations and found a sleek black-and-white building that made the perfect backdrop. Her first look, a chic black strapless dress, stood out against the city textures. The contrast between the edgy architecture and her effortless style made for some unforgettable shots.
After wrapping up in the city, we made a quick stop at Voodoo Doughnut, a must-visit in Portland. We grabbed a dozen of their famous fun-flavored donuts (and a trucker hat for good measure) before heading out toward the coast.
Before reaching the coast, we made a detour to Multnomah Falls, one of Oregon’s most iconic waterfalls. The towering cascade made for a breathtaking backdrop, and we couldn’t resist capturing a few photos of Kaitlyn there. The lush greenery and mist from the falls created a dreamy, ethereal vibe, adding even more variety to her senior travel session.
The next morning, we woke up before dawn for a sunrise senior session at Twin Rocks Beach. With the mist rolling in, Kaitlyn’s black dress stood out against the foggy backdrop. The ethereal blue hour lighting gave her portraits a dreamy, cinematic feel—exactly what we had hoped for! The salty breeze made styling a challenge, but that’s just part of the magic of shooting on the Oregon Coast for senior portraits.
After a detour to Devil’s Cauldron, a hidden gem for senior photography in Oregon (where the fog refused to cooperate), we made our way to Cannon Beach, where the sun finally peeked through. Kaitlyn rocked a mini skirt and blue top, complete with a fishtail braid that gave her look a coastal-chic feel. We captured stunning reflections in the water, highlighting both her outfit and the gorgeous scenery around Haystack Rock, a must-see for senior travel photography.
Later, we explored the sand dunes, but Kaitlyn decided to skip out because of the cold. We continued towards town, where we stopped to take pictures with the beautiful local flowers. Then, we made our way to Seaside, where we enjoyed a great meal by a fire pit and visited the boardwalk before heading back to Devil’s Cauldron, which was finally clear of fog! We experimented with lighting and reflectors to create some unique portraits, capturing the dramatic landscape perfectly.
At the restaurant, Kaitlyn realized she had taken off her rings while eating because she didn’t want them to get messy from the seafood. Unfortunately, she forgot to put them back on. Later that night, she and Toby made a late-night trip back to Seaside to retrieve them before heading back to the house, making for yet another unexpected adventure!
Kaitlyn’s destination senior photography session was the perfect blend of urban grit and coastal beauty. From sleek city shots to dreamy beach portraits, this session had it all. Travel senior sessions allow for unique, breathtaking backdrops, and Oregon’s unpredictable weather kept us on our toes—but that’s what makes these experiences so special!
