When Should I Book My Session?

My personal preference as a photographer is for my clients to book their senior session April/May of their junior year. This leaves me plenty of time to find space for them in my schedule. Summer is a particularly busy time for me personally because two of my kiddos have busy sports schedules. I don’t usually receive their summer sports schedules until May so I tend to book tentatively for the month of June until I can finalize a specific date for a session. That being said, I have booked a senior session and took their pictures two weeks later, but the risk of waiting until last minute is that my schedule could already be full.

How does the process work? How do I book & what happens after that?

To book a session you’ll just simply email, me to know if you want to have a 15 minute phone call to cover any questions you have or tell me know don’t have questions and would like to have a link to my schedule to book your session. Once you find a date that works, you will need to pay the $300 session fee & fill out the senior session contract. When those three things are done ( 1. date picked 2. $300 session fee paid 3. Contract signed) your date is set & secure, if you miss one of the steps the date will be released back to my calendar. A week to a day or two before your session I will call/text/email you to discuss locations, clothing choices, package details, & any other questions you may have! We will meet at one of the locations you’ve picked & the party will begin! Your session will last 2-3 hours depending on which 2 locations you have picked, & you will have multiple outfit changes. A day or two after your shoot, if you allowed me to share on social media, I will post a sneak peek. Usually 3-5 weeks after your session, you will receive an email from me letting you know I’ve finished editing your images. I will take your images, which can be anywhere from 50-70 & I will create a slide show set to music. My hope is you will gather your family around the biggest screen in the house & hit play button so you can see your images for the first time together & relive the experience!

The slide show will give you the ability to look through all your images & you will have access to it for a full 24 hours. Watch it as many times as you like, share it with your besties, grandma, your senior’s God-parents, whoever! Then, once you have had a chance to really see them you will be able to make an informed decision about which collection you want to purchase. Each collection has a certain amount of digital files & a certain amount of product credit that you can use on my online store to purchase things like prints, albums, wall art, & tabletop displays.

How much does a senior session cost?

Each collections contains a certain amount of digital images and print credit. To see the Collections available click here.

what time of day & where are my senior pictures taken?

Sessions are normally held 2-3 hours before sunset, to ensure the best lighting. I have several locations I like to use & will discuss which one you want to use for your pictures.

how many outfits should i wear?

My biggest piece of advice for your senior session is to prepare multiple outfits for your photos! Having variety in your wardrobe allows you to showcase multiple sides of your personality and interests. Choose a beautiful flowy dress, a casual pair of shorts AND a bold stylish outfit! Different outfits allow you to have different poses and more interest in your session gallery. Poses you can do in a dress are different from poses a pair of pants would allow for! Shoot for flattering color palettes and patterns and stay true to your personal style.

Do you recommend having my hair & makeup done?

Your hair is defining feature and we all know that if you’re having a good hair day, your confidence level is through the roof! Confidence captures beautifully on camera! I highly recommend investing in having your hair done for your senior session. When you book your hair appointment, make sure you allow for plenty of time to make it to your scheduled photography session on time!

Whether you invest in a cut, color or a simple trim and style, stick to something you know you love. Right before your session may not be the best time to experiment! Simply give your hair a refresh and have it styled for you. Beautiful blown out curls or a sleek style works perfect. Just make sure it reflects your personality best and consider if the hairstyle pairs well with your wardrobe.

Make your senior session a day for pampering! Invest in having your makeup done in addition to your hair. Makeup artists know how to apply your make up in a way that will photograph best! Be sure to let your makeup artist know what you plan to wear so they can work their magic accordingly! Go with a make up look that still feels like you whether it’s a more dramatic or a more natural look! Once again, allow for plenty of time to make it to your photography session on time

WHere do i change my clothes during the session?

Be prepared to turn your car into a dressing room. Most of the locations we visit don’t have a public restroom. We will be walking at some of the locations, so we suggest comfortable flip flops to wear between locations.

how long does it take to get my photos?

You will receive your gallery 3-5 weeks after your session, then you will have 24 hours to decide which collection you want to purchase & 30 days to choose the digital images you want for that collection.

What If There Is Bad Weather On My Session Day?

If there is bad weather we will reschedule! We will stay in close contact leading up to your session day, and make the call to reschedule before your hair and makeup appointment.

How can we make my senior session different from everyone else?

This is something I love! When my seniors make a Pinterest board it gives me a great insight into what their vision is and I can help make that come to life. Some kids already have a location in mind (family land, somewhere sentimental, Downtown Williston) and some kids have an idea of what they are wanting but nothing specific- that is where I step in to help!

Can I order prints or products after my session?

YES! Your gallery has a store attached that you can order prints from! You also have the option to order a custom album.

How will my product order be delivered?

When ordering from the store that is attached to your senior gallery you will have the option to pay & have your order sent directly to you or you can have it shipped to me for free, but you will be responsible for coming to get your order, as I do not deliver it.
