My 4 Favorite Locations for Girls| Williston Senior Photos

Senior

While the winters may be long & frigid, the landscapes and painterly sunsets here in North Dakota are unmatched.  Specifically, when it comes to my Williston senior photo sessions, there’s no shortage of location recommendations! The best part?  We don’t have to go far for the perfect setting to match each senior’s individual style.  Here are a few of my favorites!

Lewis and Clark State Park

Lewis and Clark State Park is a longstanding favorite location of mine for senior photoshoots.  It’s a short drive to visit and it’s incredibly versatile.  I can spend an afternoon with my seniors and get a ton of variety in the photos as though we’ve been to more than one place.  The shoreline at sunset is gorgeous, while the treelines and fields add tons of texture and interest.  We can go from vibrant shades of deep green to a more rugged landscape of the buttes and hills as though it’s a different park altogether.

Downtown Williston, ND

From charming storefronts to beautiful landscaping, senior girls who choose downtown Williston for their shoot have lots of options.  In the past, I’ve incorporated shots with the local theater for movie buffs. Including the marquee in the background has the added bonus of capturing the new releases for the year– so fun to look back on later in life!  The lavender florals and steps have endless posing possibilities as well.  It just doesn’t get much more personal than including landmarks from your hometown when you’re celebrating the end of an era with senior year.

American Legion Badlands

I love the look of The North Unit for senior photos, but not everyone wants to drive an hour out of the way.  And why would you when you can achieve a very similar look with the American Legion Badlands?  The rocks with the horizon in the background are fantastic for adding variety to a session.  Especially with senior girls, the juxtaposition of a feminine flowy dress and the rugged terrain of the park is unmatched!

Family Ranch Senior Photos

I always encourage my senior clients to include personal details in their sessions.  If you have family land or a ranch, I highly recommend considering using it as the location for your senior photos!  Through this, clients have the opportunity to weave in details from their childhood and upbringing as a sort of full-circle moment.  This can be deeply nostalgic and scenic at the same time. Animals, pets, family farm equipment, and barns are all welcome to be a part of your senior’s personal time capsule celebrating their upcoming graduation.
