Some destination senior sessions just hit differently. Not just because the views were jaw-dropping (which they totally were), but because the entire trip felt like a full-circle celebration—of family, adventure, and this huge milestone in Avery’s life.
We started off at the college campus in Rexburg, taking photos around the lawn, flowers, and trees. It was peaceful and beautiful—a perfect Plan B after the flower shop we’d originally scouted got cleared out the week before. Honestly? It worked out better than we could’ve planned.
After that session, we all went to Cafe Sabor in Island Park for dinner. It was packed and lively, but such a fun way to wrap up the first evening. Great food, even better company. The next day, we explored Big Springs Loop—and if you’ve never been, it’s like stepping into a postcard. Crystal-clear water, tree-lined paths, and that kind of stillness that makes you want to stay awhile. We scouted the area for Avery’s final shoot, and just soaked in the views.
That evening, we headed to the St. Anthony Sand Dunes—and this part was pure fun. Beau (Avery’s dad) brought the razors, and we rode them out to the dunes. My son Lane came with me to shoot video, but he ended up riding with Beau and having the time of his life. The sunset light was unreal and Avery absolutely nailed it.

The next morning, we started at Mesa Falls, where I photographed Avery with her mom, Abby. The falls are stunning and definitely worth the walk. After that, we made our way back to Big Springs Loop, where we wrapped up the trip with Avery’s final senior photos and family portraits. There was still a little snow tucked into the landscape and the mountains peeked out behind the overcast skies—soft, peaceful, and perfect.
This session was a little bit of everything: spontaneous, meaningful, and so much fun. Travel sessions like this aren’t just about the photos—they’re about the memories you make along the way. And Avery? You made every single part of it unforgettable.
