If you’ve ever considered planning a session for couples photography in Nashville TN for a getaway, let me just say this: do it. Make the trip, turn it into a weekend, and definitely book the photos.
Ronica and James O’Dwyer’s session is the perfect example of why I love photography in Nashville so much. We were already in town for my daughter and niece’s birthday celebration, and I had rented two Airbnbs side by side. It was warm, golden, and buzzing with energy. The session itself was a little impromptu, but honestly, those are sometimes the most fun. When in Rome, right?
They’re good friends of mine, so the vibe was easy from the start. Before we met up, Ronica stopped at the Nashville at Capitol View location of Drybar to have her hair styled. It was the perfect way to elevate the look without overcomplicating anything. A little glam goes a long way, especially when you’re turning your photo session into a full date night.

I’m a huge fan of live music, and Nashville never disappoints. You don’t have to try hard to find it. There’s a talented musician on a street corner, inside a dive bar, or playing through open doors somewhere on Broadway. The city hums with creativity.
However, let’s talk about Broadway for a second.
It’s iconic and fun, but… it’s also always (and I do mean always) busy.
If you truly want photos on Broadway, I recommend sunrise. Even then, it fills up quickly. For Ronica and James, we chose side streets just off Broadway before sunset instead. That gave us texture, color, and personality without battling crowds. It made the experience smoother and way more enjoyable.
If you’re exploring places to take pictures in Nashville TN, think beyond the main strip. That’s where the magic happens.

Nashville is incredibly walkable, which makes session planning easy. In addition to the areas near Broadway, there are so many great options for photography Nashville TN sessions:
Centennial Park is one of my favorite recommendations if you’re shy in front of the camera but still want that Nashville feel. It’s far less tourist-heavy and offers open space, greenery, and flexibility.
And of course, if you want iconic stops, there’s the Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame. No matter your style, there’s something for everyone.

Here’s what I believe deeply: experiences matter more than things.
I talk a lot about gifting experiences to our kids instead of physical items. But that same intention applies to your relationship, too. When you plan photography in Nashville as part of a trip, you’re doing more than booking a session. You’re stepping away from daily routines. You’re exploring somewhere new together.
You could absolutely schedule a couples shoot in a studio any day. However, a destination session adds energy, movement & a storytelling element. Make a weekend of it! Celebrate an anniversary, plan engagement photos, or simply decide you want something fun and different.
