Addisyn senior session in Williston, ND

Senior

Addisyn’s senior session in Williston didn’t happen the day we originally planned, and I’m so glad it didn’t. That midweek date landed right in a 100° heat wave, so I did what I always do when the weather refuses to cooperate: I watched the forecast, waited it out, and eventually we met again on Sunday night instead. The difference was everything. With perfect temperatures, no wind, and that calm, quiet feeling, the session flowed easily from the start.

Downtown to Start

To start, we met at the James Memorial, where they had the prettiest picture frame filled with real flowers. It felt like such a natural way to ease into the session. From there, we moved to the stairs at the Memorial, which have incredible leading lines and gave us such a strong, clean look right away.

Dance, Movement, and Texture

After that, we headed downtown and stopped in front of the theatre, my favorite timestamp of a senior’s year. It’s always one of those spots that quietly anchors the session in this season of life. Since Addisyn had a dance outfit with her, we leaned fully into that part of who she is. While we were there, we used the textures and colors of the downtown buildings, played with some really fun dappled light, and let her movement take over. Watching her dance feels effortless, like it’s part of how she breathes.

Lewis & Clark State Park

Before heading fully into the park, we stopped near the buttes right at the entrance so she could do more dance photos. Then, once inside the park, we found a beautiful patch of wild yellow flowers where we grabbed photos of Addisyn with her mom, Staci. Those moments felt quiet and meaningful, and they’re always the kind you’re grateful to have later.

Along the Water

From there, we made our way to the boat dock. The leading lines there are so good, and the water always adds something extra. After that, we stopped by the spot with the bridge and took photos there before changing things up again. I had brought some flowers along to use, and at that point, Addisyn changed into a long white skirt with a black tube top, which felt simple and striking against all the textures around us.

Ending the Night at the Beach

Finally, we finished the session at the beach. This was the last location, and it couldn’t have been better. She changed into the cutest light blue dress and spent time by the water kicking it, moving, laughing, and just being completely herself. As the night wound down, it felt relaxed, playful, and like the perfect way to end the session.

This session was extra special for me. Staci and her daughter Brooke own the dance studio where both of my girls danced. Amelia still dances there, and Isabel danced there before heading off to college. Over the years, Addisyn grew up in that studio, helping out, teaching, and becoming the incredible dancer she is today. Honestly, she could model dance wear if she wanted to, she carries herself with so much strength and grace.

From start to finish, this session felt easy, fun, and full of movement. A perfect Sunday night for Addisyn’s senior session.
