The most precious jewels you’ll ever have around your neck are the arms of your children. One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is the fact that I get to capture a moment in time for my clients–something they can look back on years down the road, bringing them right back to that time and those memories. So when my friend of nearly 30 years, Jess, gave me the opportunity to take pictures of her and her daughter, I asked her if she would be willing to bring something to our session that would signify this part of her life with her prized jewel, Liv.Jess told me that she frequently brings popsicles to school and she and Liv drive around town until they finish their treat! Incorporating this ritual into our session was the perfect way to develop this mother-daughter experience into an everlasting memory… To me, the love Jess has for her daughter is palpable. I feel that people are made to have certain roles and becoming a mother was a role Jess was made for. Because of it, she has become the person she was meant to become. The other role Jess plays is a photographer, and all too often, we stay behind the lens and don’t take the time to include our stories in the tapestries of our lives, so I was so happy to be a part of sharing Jess and Liv’s beautiful, sparkling connection!
