Nature is not a place to visit. It is home. ~Gary SnyderCodi had asked me a few months ago if I would take their family pictures. I was flattered she liked my work enough to ask, but wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it for a business and if I was brave enough to put my work out there. I love photography and with the encouragement from friends and family I decided to take the leap and start my own photography business. I literally gave Codi 2 days to plan outfits and get ready. I saw the weather was nice and wanted to take advantage of it, as we had a lot of rain the week prior. I met Codi at her house and she was finishing the final touches to the girls’ hair. Codi and her family were in their element and made the session flow smoothly. Jaden was relaxed and full of smiles. The girls’ personalities were effortless to capture. Averi is the fashion girl and Alex is the tom boy with natural beauty. Codi had a spot in mind for our photo shoot; it was on her family’s property. The land is original homestead land and has been in Codi’s family for generations which added even more sentiment to an already perfect night. It is a hill called Crow Fly High Hill and also the place one of her brothers proposed. The view from the top of it is extraordinary! There is the river, badlands bluffs, farmland and the gorgeous fall colors. The whole evening while I was there had a calming aura that was only enhanced by the beautiful views of nature.
